This five-unit condo complex aims to create a housing scale that is appropriate for the surrounding Zilker Park neighborhood, while providing a denser typology that can meet the demands of Austin’s growing population. The design gives each resident a feeling of ownership, privacy and connection to the landscape within a shared setting. The exterior palette utilizes natural materials such as brick, stucco, ash wood, steel and concrete tiles. Simple modern forms give way to bold formal moments that create expanses of glass that drench the interiors with natural light. Landscaping and low brick walls coursed in a herringbone pattern supply each resident with a private yard. The interior is characterized by exposed rafters and open tread staircases, and is connected to exterior spaces through large glass sliding windows.
